Fund Raising Opportunity Print
Wednesday, 21 July 2010 17:38

This year we have a new opportunity to help raise money for the Burke Band.  Starting this year, the Burke Band will be part of the Burke Booster Club, which supports all thletics at Burke High.  As part of the Burke Booster Club, we are still free to act independently, as the Burke Band Boosters, but it will also give us greater opportunities in promoting band activities and fund raising.........

2010 Burke Marching Band Summer Practices Print
Tuesday, 13 July 2010 19:03

Evening practices will be held July 13, 15, 20, 22, and August 10 & 12 at Burke High School from 5:00 to 9:00PM.

Mini-Band Camp is scheduled for July 27, 28, and 29 from 8:00AM to 12:00PM and Band Camp is scheduled for August 2–5 from 8:00AM to 12:00PM and from 5:00 to 9:00PM. On August 6th we will practice from 8:00AM to 12:00PM and return for the exhibition and family dinner from 6:00 to 8:00PM. A dinner reservation form will be sent home by the start of Band Camp.

Practices at Burke begin in the band room.  Enter (and exit) through the loading dock on the east side of the building and go to the 2nd floor band room (you are entering at the basement level). Take the stairs, inside to the left, down the hall through the door - turn left. Up the stairs to the top floor make two left turns to get to the band room.

Attendance will be taken at the beginning of each practice. Advance noticefor all non-emergency or illness absences is required for the absence to be excused. This notice can be a signed note, an email, or a phone call (see contact information below). Unexcused absences will result in a lowered grade and possible removal from the show.

Be sure to bring your own water bottle (more substantial containers such as Camelbacks or insulated bottles are recommended), wear sunscreen, tennis shoes with socks, hats, and light colored clothing to all practices! These items are especially important because of the heat generated from the field turf. Anyone who has an inhaler must carry it with him/her at all times. You also need your instrument, music, and a pencil.

We are looking forward to a great season!
